Farnsworth: The Blackstone Hotel

Farnsworth Train Stop 7:

636 South Michigan Avenue
I normally pass this while on my way to the loop everyday and I didn't know how historical or important it was until now.
Not only have a slew of famous Actors and Actresses stayed at the Rennaisance Blackstone Hotel, but there have been so many movies filmed here.
Such as:
  • The Untouchables
  • Color of Money
  • Rent A Cop
  • Jack and Mike
  • That Was You
  • Early Edition
  • Hudsucker Proxy
  • Myra
  • March in Windy City
  • Above the Law
  • Johnny Ryan
  • The Babe
  • Missing Persons
  • Bix
  • Love Jones
  • Blue Horizon
  • Missing Persons
  • Only The Lonely

Farnsworth: The Billy Goat Tavern

Farnsworth Train Stop 6:

430 N. Michigan Ave at Lower Level
Farnsworth and I really enjoyed this one because we both were able to grab a bite to eat. John Belushi, one of my favorite actors and Bill Murray made the Billy Goat Tavern infamous when they presented a skit on SNL. Seeing as they both came from Second City in Chicago this joint was a hit among them and their friends. Watch their famous SNL clip below: http://www.billygoattavern.com/legend/snl/

Farnsworth: Old Cook County Hospital

Farnsworth Train Stop 5:

1801 West Harrison Street

I remember watching ER when I was younger and my favorite character was Doug which was played by George Clooney. It was on NBC from 1994-2009, it became the longest running primetime medical drama in American History.

Farnsworth: Oprah's HARPO Studios

Farnsworth Train Stop 4:

1058 W Washington Blvd.
HARPO studios originally opened in 1990 by the queen of talk her self, Oprah Winfrey. After she created her OWN network in 2011 Oprah moved most of her team over to the west coast. Now in recent news the HARPO studios have been sold as work was dwindling down. "We have been fortunate to have this spectacular city of Chicago as our home for over 25 years and are thankful to everybody who has been a part of this great company," Erik Logan and Sheri Salata, presidents of OWN and Harpo Studios, said in a statement.

Farnsworth: The House from Webster

Farnsworth Train Stop 3:

1432 North State Parkway
Farnsworth and I get up close to The House from Webster, as the front doors are left open. The TV show was set in Chicago and aired from 1983-1989. The house was occupied by George and Katherine Papadapolous.

Farnsworth: The Original Playboy Mansion

Farnsworth Train Stop 2:

1340 North State Parkway
The 1899 classical mansion was Hefner's swinging home from 1959 to 1974. Before the 1993 condo conversion and preceding dorm use, there were 70 rooms to one owner.  Farnsworth wishes he could afford one of these condo's! If you are an Eddie Murphy fan you might recognize Hefner's home, because in the 1987  movie Beverly Hills Cop II, his character, Detroit police detective Axel Foley, crashes a party at the mansion.

Farnsworth: Newton Minow Way

Farnsworth Train Stop 1:

42 South Dearborn
As if posing with a paper cutout isn't embarrassing enough, imagine doing it during lunch on a warm sunny day in Chicago. I definitely got looks from the people passing by, but its all in the name of letting them know 'Sarnoff is a hack'!!! Here Farnsworth and I are on Newton Minow way.
Newton N Minow was most famously known for his Vast Wasteland Speech delivered on may 9th, 1961. His speech would forever change the way the public interest was viewed. I also believe that this may be the closest location to the DePaul look campus.
